Last night I went to a SWMRS concert.
I thought they were really good!
I saw the concert at Amos’ Southend in Charlotte, NC. It was a really cute venue.
The openers were Destroy Boys and Beach Goons. I haven’t heard much of either one of their music but I was very impressed. If you have the time definitely go listen to them.
Of course, SWMRS were very good. They were incredibly good showman with an amazing sound and amazing music. I would strongly encourage you to listen.
I had such a fun time!
The song of the week is “City in a Garden” by Fall Out Boy.
I chose this song because it is about Chicago and I’m flying to Chicago on Monday!
BTW I’m not going to post every week anymore, but I will some weeks.
The song of the weeks this week is “Killer Queen” by Queen based on a suggestion to choose a song by Queen.
Congratulations to Rami Malek for the Oscar in portraying Freddie Mercury.
This song needs no explanation. You should listen.
This weeks song of the week is “Balaclava” by the Arctic Monkeys.
This song is off the album ‘Favourite Worst Nightmare’ by the Arctic Monkeys.
It has a really catchy and upbeat melody as well a really fun guitar part behind the verses as well as a fun main riff. The solo/bridge follows the melody and adds a lot of fun to the song.
Like the lyrics say “I’m sure you’ll baffle ’em good”, the lyrics baffle me. It seems like the song could be about any number of things.
Overall, I really like this song and I think that you will too if you give it a listen. I like everything single thing this band has put out and I think that I will continue to.
This weeks song is “It’s a Fact” by Anarbor.
This song has been one of my most listened to songs in the past couple months. It has an upbeat feel and makes you want to get up and dance. This song also has a really catchy bridge and ending so I highly suggest listening all the way to the end.
This song is by one of my favorite bands, Anarbor. I also suggest “Whiskey in Hell”, “Going to Jail”, “Before the World Ends”, “Freaks”, “I Don’t Love You Anymore”, ‘Every High has a Comedown”, “Mr. Big Shot”, “Gypsy Woman”, “Contagious”, and “Drugstore Diet”.
Fun fact: Anarbor played the theme song for the 2009 movie Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins
The Song of the Week this week is “DEVIL” by Shinedown based on a reader suggestion.
Now, I don’t know much about this band or this song especially, but I can tell you that after listening to the first thirty seconds I’m instantly hooked. I listened to it on repeat ten times through because it was so catchy.
This feels like a song you would listen to before going into battle, like you were going to go fight the devil himself and the only way it ends is with you winning.
This songs is off of the album ‘ATTENTION ATTENTION’ which is a goldmine for other great songs like this one, including “PYRO”, “MONSTERS”, “DARKSIDE”, “CREATURES”, “EVOLVE”, “special”, and “THE HUMAN RADIO”. Honestly, I loved the entire second half of the album upon the initial listen.
I’m definitely going to check out more of their stuff, and if you haven’t, I highly recommend it.
Todays song of the week is “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” by Green Day.
This suggestion was sent in by a reader and I completely agree that it should have the spot this week.
About the song:
The song makes you feel bad for the author, which sets the mood of the song: being alone.
It is in the key of F minor which furthers the original theme of being alone because this key sounds sad as it is a minor key. The heavy reverb furthers this effect.
One of my favorite lyrics in Boulevard of Broken Dreams is, “My shadow’s the only one that walks beside me” because this lyric helps you visualize and feel how the author is feeling.
One of my favorite parts of this song is the end. Near the end of the song everything gets progressively heavier and then it stops abruptly so there is only an acoustic guitar playing before everything comes back in. At the very end, the lead guitar changes to a single riff that truly finishes the song and leaves you satisfied after you’re done listening.
Overall, I think this is a great song that you should definitely listen to!
My music taste is quite varied, though I’ve heard people say it’s very rigid. Generally, I will isten to anything under the umbrellas of rock, indie, or alternative, although when I’m picking what to listen to that day I will lean more toward the punk-rock, pop-punk, or alternative rock spectrum. Some of my favorite bands are Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Anarbor, iDKHow, Waterparks, Palaye Royale, All Time Low, and Muse.
On this blog, I will write about everything I’m interested in including music, fashion, and other things revolving around these topics. If you are interested in these things come back to view future posts!
